Marad
Marad is a small village nearly 5 kilometers away from the city of Calicut in Kerala, Gods own country. There, in that small beautiful area live very simple people, who are all fishermen. There occurred a tragic event in the first week of May 2003. Nine people were killed in an action by a section of people in the locality. Vengeance between two groups of people is still continuing, even after the elapse of four months. At this juncture Sahayathri felt the need of bringing out harmony in Marad, and decided to do what ever is possible. We found that medical assistance is the immediate need of the area. Hence we started a free clinic where all systems of medicines are available.
Inauguration
Professor Ramachandran Thampy inaugurated the clinic on 31/8/2003 at 10 A.M. Mr.M.T.Thomas president of the Association described the activities of Sahayathri. Fr. Dr. Antony Kozuvanal Secretary Infarm and Dr.Moidu of National Hospital Calicut made felicitations. Dr. Shiny, Dr.Devanand, Fr.Anto.S.J. Gopinath C. P. and Mr. Muhammad, talked on Ayurveda,Homoeopathy, Counseling, Yoga and naturopathy, respectively. Adv. T.J.Varkey welcomed the audience and
Dr. K.J.Mathai proposed vote of thanks. 215 patients were treated on the same day.
While the doctors did a free voluntary service, all other expenses were met from the donations of well wishers, and other organizations.

Religious Harmony
Man is not an island. He lives in society and interacts with fellow citizens. Here the 'Other' can be a 'Hell' or 'Heaven' according to one's perception. Religion and various associations are meant for the renewal and upliftment of man. But unfortunately certain selfish and antisocial elements in society make use of people for their vested interest. Outcome is blood shed all over the world. Let us try our best to amend and prevent Marads.
